Ancient Greek Medicine

Greek medicines and their medical knowledge has had a great influence even in today medicine. The Greek people were known to be very smart due to how they solved their problems. We are doing a research project on which society was more developed; the ancient Egyptians or the ancient Greek with “medicine” as our key indicator for the developed societies. First of all, one of the physicians from 700BC was Hippocrates. He was the father of the medicine since he was one of the very first teachers who taught the anatomical work. He and his students did many brain surgeries and eye surgeries. Second of all, the Greek developed a Hippocratic Corpus which is a collection of seventy early medical works from ancient Greek. They also developed the Hippocratic Oath which is still used today in our world. Their medical works were fabulous. Last of all, another famous physician was Aristotle. The physicians used the same tools like forceps, scalpers, tooth extraction forceps, syringes and catheters. Greek physicians used scientific observations to evaluate their patients and applied herbs and performed surgery. These theories and practices are still being used in our modern world.
